Behaviour Support Practitioner

Full time role – 38hrs per week

Personal Qualities: 
  1. A can do attitude with a passionate belief that all people with a disability have something to offer
  2. Capacity to be flexible, creative and think outside the square
  3. Initiative to grow within the role and share ideas
  4. A genuine passion for developing cohesive teams and positive team culture
  5. Ability to work with people who can be in difficult situations and under stress
Skill Set:
  1. A relevant professional qualification is required
  2. Experience in working and engaging with families and individuals from diverse backgrounds
  3. Experienced in working with people with disabilities
  4. Sound knowledge of positive behaviour support with a passion for human rights
  5. Sound knowledge base of disabilities and families
  6. Experience in working with people with behaviours of concern and support
  7. Excellent communication skills
  8. Ability to review and write quality behaviour support plans for individuals
  9. Experience in the field is preferred, however graduates are welcome to apply

Prospective candidates will need to undergo a series of safety screening checks before being appointed to any position at IOE.  Our recruitment procedures reflect our commitment to the safety of the people we support.  Safety screening includes:
  • A Working with Children Check
  • National Police history check (Crimcheck)
  • Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme
In addition to the safety screening, the successful applicant will be required to provide proof of currency for first aid certification – Provide First Aid HLTAID004, manual handling and undertake the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
Generous salary packaging is available on commencement.

Casual Disability Support Workers

Interchange Outer East regularly advertises employment opportunities for casual support workers to work with children and young adults with disabilities on a 1:1 basis or within group programs. If you are passionate about working with people and a firm belief in equality for all, we would love you to work with us.

Attendance at a recruitment information session is compulsory for anyone wishing to apply for these positions and is the only way an application for support work can be lodged.
