Adult Recreation Program

The Adult Recreation Program allows groups of young adults aged 18 - 30 years, to attend weekend camps and day activities throughout the year. Small groups of 6 young adults are supported by 2 Interchange staff, who assist with personal care and activity involvement, whilst encouraging and supporting independence and community involvement.

Day and off site camp activities are community based and reflect the interests of the members of the particular group. Whether its catching a band, lunch at a pub, going to markets, festivals, movies, or just joining in the many events in and around Melbourne, there is always something for everyone to enjoy. Adult Recreation groups provide the opportunity for the development of friendships and social networks.

After Work Social Program

Commenced in 2005, this program offers small groups of young adults the opportunity to get together for 4 hours of socialising and leisure activities on a regular basis, either during the late afternoon or evening.

Activities offered reflect the interests of the participants and have included swimming, playing pool, bush walking, dining out, BBQs, going to movies etc.

The program is open to young adults aged 18 - 30 years who live in the outer eastern regions of Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges. Participants must be able to work within a support framework of 1:3.

Summer Holiday Adult Recreation Program (SHARP)

This program commenced in 2006 and is a joint project of Interchange Outer East, EACH, SCOPE and ERLS. Operating during the summer holiday period, this program offers community based recreational activities and camps of 3 – 7 days duration  to young adults, aged 18 - 30 years.

Each summer has seen a program of camps and recreational activities. Interchange camps have had participants taking in the sights and experiences of the Victorian Goldfields, the Great Ocean Road, the Gippsland Lakes. camping by the Murray River, holidays by the beach, relaxing retreats at Warburton , plus a range of activities which takes advantage of what Melbourne and its surrounds has to offer.  A great way to fill in the summer holidays!

Supporting Our Adult Recreation Program 

Toyota Landcruiser Club of Australia (Victoria) continues to support our Adult Recreation Program. We are most grateful to its members who provide our young adults with amazing weekends of fun, excitement and camaraderie.

Interchange Outer East has recently expanded its relationship with the club. With the purchase of two 4WDs and the payment of memberships for a number of staff, we are now able to run regular camps in conjunction with the Toyota Landcruiser Club.
