family support programs

Our Family Support Programs are open to all families who have a child or young adult with a disability regardless of whether they use other IOE services.

•    Mothers can relax, have time out and enjoy the friendship of other women on a number of day activities and weekends away throughout the year. A great chance to network and share experiences too but the emphasis is on ‘social’. Activities include day and night outings to markets, theatre, picnics, boat trips, pubs, music events … plus any other activity that involves fun and food!

IOE facilitates regular support groups for carers throughout the eastern region of Melbourne. A program of workshops and guest speakers provide support, information and resources in a relaxed and welcoming environment. As well as these more information based events, the groups offer a variety of social and recreational activities for carers which provide opportunities for social connection. Groups are currently located in Whitehorse, Maroondah, Knox, Boroondara, Monash, Yarra Ranges, Yarra Valley and  Manningham.

Family Camp is a much loved IOE tradition, so much so that we are now holding a number of camps during the year. Family camps always offer plenty of opportunity for relaxation, fun and socialisation in a supportive and friendly environment. There is always plenty to do, keeping even the most active children busy. The camps are a great chance for the families to meet and re-connect with others and to get away as a whole unit for a fun weekend together. Interchange Staff coordinate the camp and all activities. Volunteer support is available to assist families.
