Interchange Outer East offers young adults recreational activities which are suited to their age and interests, and encourage independence and participation in the community. Participants are involved in the program planning process and choose to take part in the activities in which they are interested. The groups also provide a good opportunity for the development of friendships and social networks.
Please note: To be eligible for the Adult Recreation and After Work Social programs young adults must be living at home in Melbourne’s outer eastern regions of Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges. Participants must also have registered with Interchange Outer East prior to turning 26.
A program of weekend camps and day activities for young adults aged 18 - 30 years. Participants apply for the activities of their choice every six months.
Day and off site camp activities are community based and reflect the interests of those taking part - catching a band, lunch at a pub, going to markets, festivals, movies, or just joining in the many events in and around Melbourne, there is always plenty for everyone to enjoy..
Supporting Our Adult Recreation Program
|
Toyota Landcruiser Club of Australia (Victoria) continues to support our Adult Recreation Program. We are most grateful to its members who provide our young adults with amazing weekends of fun, excitement and camaraderie. Interchange Outer East has recently expanded its relationship with the club. With the purchase of two 4WDs and the payment of memberships for a number of staff, we are now able to run regular camps in conjunction with the Toyota Landcruiser Club. We are also most appreciative of Club's continued financial support of our Adult Recreation Program, through the donation of proceeds from fundraising activities. |
A regular social and recreational get together during the late afternoon or evening on a weekday, the After Work Social Program gives young adults a chance to catch up with friends and enjoy an outing during the week.
Activities offered reflect the interests of the participants and playing pool, bush walking, swimming, dining out, BBQs, going to movies etc.
This program commenced in 2006 and is a joint project of Interchange Outer East, EACH, SCOPE and ERLS. Each project partner offers a range of different camps and recreational activities. To be eligible for this program, participants must be 18 – 30 and living at home – geographic restrictions vary for each partner agency.
Operating during the summer holiday period, young adults have the opportunity to take a summer holiday away from home or to enjoy various community based recreational activities.
Past Interchange camps have had participants taking in the sights and experiences of the Victorian Goldfields, the Great Ocean Road and the Gippsland Lakes, plus there are lots of activities on offer which take advantage of Melbourne in summer and its surrounds. A great way to fill in the summer holidays!
