Adult Services Network site is fortunate to have made a great connection with Oonah, which is part of the Healesville Indigenous Community Services Association and I am really proud of the fantastic work our guys are doing there on Mondays and Fridays.  I am pleased to be able to give them this recognition!

On Monday afternoons we go to Oonah and help to make up Early Years Indigenous Language Resource kits which the centre sells to local schools and early childhood services. We have been sorting and compiling all the different picture cards with the English and local indigenous words on them for the resource kits. A great way to learn a few words ourselves!

On Friday mornings the group have been helping complete the packs and have also been working in the community centre’s food bank. The food bank collects food from the local Coles and Second Bite and makes it accessible to local families in the community who some weeks may need a bit of a helping hand. We help to set up evrything up by unpacking the products, sorting through the fruit and vegetables and setting up like a shop. The people down at Oonah have been amazing! They are doing such great work and have helped to provide a meaningful way for our Monday and Friday Healesville group to be involved in creating a stronger community – their local community.

Photos are of the Monday group (Steph, Rhys and Jordan) with the Early Years Indigenous Language Resource kits that we have been working on and of the Friday group (Jordan, Briony and Bethany (Adam was away)) working in the food bank helping to sort out the fruit that they get in from Second Bite.
