Sport for Fun at Knox

The Activ8 Sports for Fun program has been successfully running for a couple of years now. It a program for young people who regular sporting options do not suit and for families with siblings who may also want to join in, so that all the family can play together. Sports for Fun is for all members of the community and those participating do not need to be members of IOE.

The program is a sports based, with the emphasis is on participation, enjoyment and building skills. The focus of the sessions is on fun and engagement, not competition, perfection and winning. This is what makes Sports for Fun different from most other sporting programs.  We work on some basic fitness, some skills relating to the sport of the day and play a game, making modifications as we go, so that all participants can join in and have fun! The sessions are different each week, and we cover a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, cricket and pretty much anything else you could imagine!

I am now facilitating the Knox sessions and am a qualified Children’s Trainer who has experience working with children with Autism and I’m also a ‘Grassroots’ soccer coach, amongst other things! We also have some awesome volunteers who help to facilitate the program. Parents are very welcome to join in, and the program is ideal for siblings’ participation as well. For children who need extra supervision or support we ask that a parent stay on site.

Activ8 Sports for Fun runs on Monday nights during term from 4.45pm – 6pm at Insportz Knox , 108 Lewis Road, Wantirna South. Term 2 commences on the April 18, with no session on April 25 (Anzac day), and the last session for the term on June 20.

The first session is free, and cost per person is then $15 per session or $10 per session if siblings also attend.  download the flyer
