Thought we would combine a few comments on the recent New York/Hong Kong trip

Being asked to attend a camp to go over to the U.S. and sight see around one of the biggest and most popular cities in the world as an Interchange vollie, has been without a doubt one of the most privileged opportunities I have ever been given. The memories from some of the best experiences that I have ever had will stick with me for many years to come. Seeing such attractions in New York like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Time Square and, on an impulse, with a few of the guys visiting the Intrepid air-craft carrier museum, were in all senses of the word ‘awesome’.

Hong Kong gave us very similar awe-inspiring moments with all its very different sights and smells! Going to Disneyland with a group was a heap of fun, being able to enjoy going on rides and seeing all our childhood favourites was all just too cool.

Overall, I can say that the camp was an absolute fantastic experience and getting to know everyone and enjoy such moments was as equally as fun.

In mid October twelve of us from Interchange Outer East met in the early hours of the morning for the start of what would be an exciting overseas adventure. After a long flight via Hong Kong we arrived at our amazing accommodation in mid-town New York.

In New York our many experiences included visits to The Empire State Building, Central Park, FAO Scwartz Toy Store, 5th Avenue and many more sites – and lots of shopping!

A highlight for many was seeing the Lion King and Chicago on Broadway.

After New York we spent a couple of days in Hong Kong which included an awesome day at Hong Kong: Disneyland.

Adele Heal commented:

“I really liked the Broadway shows and the defense museum. It was terrific. I liked Disneyland in Hong Kong and all the rides.”

Chris Donohue commented:

“I particularly liked the ‘Big Piano’ and the view from the top of the ‘big building’ (Empire State we assume)  And, of course, the FOOD!”
