May the 11th – 15th marks a special time of the year for the volunteer program. It is National Volunteer Week and it’s an opportunity for everyone at Interchange Outer East to say thank you to our wonderful volunteers.

Every year we like to say our thank you in a slightly different way, although lately we’ve realised that a catch up with cake and a hot drink goes down pretty well.

On Monday 11 May 13 volunteers, including a host, plus staff from IOE went out for coffee and cake to Somersault Cafe in Ferntree Gully. Jan the owner was a wonderful host, opening up the cafe especially for the event.
We had 13 volunteers including a host. Jan is a huge supporter of anything happening in the Ferntree Gully community and was more than happy to get involved, especially to say thank you to people who so regularly volunteer their time for others.

Thursday the 14th of May was an opportunity for the volunteers to get together at another social event and attend the Pitch Perfect 2 screening at Boronia Metro Cinemas.
For a small cost of $15, volunteers received their ticket and a popcorn and a small donation was made to Interchange Outer East from the sale of each ticket. This event was actually created and organised by Freya Munzel, one of the volunteers at IOE.  We had 25 people attend (host, volunteers and staff) and raised just over $100 dollars.

Fred Brumhead (CEO) attended both events. Everyone agrees in thinking Fred enjoyed Pitch Perfect a little more than everyone else.

Interchange Outer East would like to say a massive thank you to every volunteer that has got involved in some way over the past year. None of this would be possible without you!

We would also like to thank Jan at Somersault Cafe and Boronia Metro Cinemas for being such wonderful hosts.
