Volunteer Roadshow 2017

IOE’s Volunteer Roadshow is Coming Your Way!

Over the next few months, IOE’s Volunteer Coordinators, Beck and Marcelo, will be travelling around to secondary schools across Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Valley, talking to students about volunteering opportunities at IOE.

Nearly all IOE’s programs run with the help of volunteers and IOE has a strong volunteer culture, particularly in regard to youth volunteering, taking volunteers from age 14. We believe that young people bring great energy, fun and interaction to their volunteering role. In return they learn skills, gain confidence and self-esteem and develop empathy and community awareness – all of which stand them in good stead for the future.

IOE has had some very positive relationships with a number of secondary schools in the past, which have resulted in many students becoming IOE volunteers. The current roadshow aims to build on these relationships, renew those that have lapsed and introduce new schools to the benefits that volunteering can bring to their students and school community.

Visits to secondary schools will kick off the ‘Roadshow’ volunteer recruitment campaign. Contact with as many community youth venues, clubs and organisations as possible, will then be added to the campaign.

If you would like to have Beck or Marcelo visit your school to present to your staff and students, please contact them on 9758 5522 or email volunteers@ioe.org.au
