Lions Family Camp Trivia Night

On Saturday 22nd November, 110 people gathered at Ferntree Gully Bowling Club for a night of trivia to raise funds for Interchange family camps.

Interchange Outer East had the honour of decorating the room with some great Family Camp themed artwork which had been produced by the Adult Services art group at the Community site. They also constructed male and female cardboard people which we sat at the IOE table and called Fred and Kimberley, so our team aptly called themselves ‘The Cardboard Cut Outs’.

With funds raised from ticket sales, silent auctions, and some hotly contested games in between some very serious trivia rounds, the event raised over $14,000. Put together by volunteers from the Lions Clubs of Vermont, Vermont South, Park Orchards, and Forest Hill, the funds will be shared between Interchange Outer East and Interchange Inner East to run Family Camps in 2017, at the Lions-owned Licola Wilderness Village in Gippsland.

Our sincere thanks go to all the wonderful Lions volunteers who donated their time to pull the event together, to Ferntree Gully Bowling Club for donating the venue, plus the following organisations who donated prizes to Interchange Outer East for the night:
• Puffing Billy Railway – 1 x Family Pass (worth $108)
• Yarra Valley Racing – 1 x Trackside Enclosure Package for 12 people, plus 5 x Double passes for Melbourne Cup Day (worth $600)
• Enterprises – who donated a very popular trailer load of wood for the silent auction

In the end ‘The Cardboard Cut Outs’ came in third from the eleven teams that participated, but we definitely felt like winners given everything the event achieved for our family camps.
