A group of us from IOE have been learning the Italian language here at Interchange, on a Wednesday evening for a term and a bit now.
Nadia Lazzari, our ‘professoressa’, has been an excellent (and patient) teacher and slowly we have been learning the grammatical rules, the words and their Italian pronunciation.
What better way to end to celebrate the end of the year than a night out in Carlton, the centre of Melbourne’s Italian culinary culture. And what better place to eat than DOC’s where ‘le pizze e i vini’ are authentic Italian – definitely not your corner Aussie pizza shop style! We practiced our Italian on our charming waitress who was very gracious in her responses – and spoke slowly enough for us to understand.
The night would not have been complete without ‘il café e i dolci’ from the iconic Brunetti’s cake shop where it takes longer to choose which cake/s you would like to enjoy than it takes to eat it/them – it is hard not to over indulge with more than one!
Thank you Nadia. I am sure I speak for all the group when I say we are looking forward to continuing our lessons next year.
