At the beginning of block 2, I started to volunteer at Hope City Mission in Mooroolbark.
I cook meals for people who can’t afford to have meals every night. I cook the meals, put them in a container and they go to the foodbank. I work with Sandy, another volunteer. During blocks 3 & 4 Sandy and I cooked approximately 300 meals a week including, curried sausages, potato bake, sweet and sour pork, pasta and tomato sauce, and chow mein. We also make snacks like scones, cookies and cakes and they let me bring some back to Network for Mel to try.
I am a registered volunteer and Network staff drop me at the Hope City Mission Centre on a Wednesday and pick me up in the afternoon. On a Thursday one of my friends Nicole also volunteers at the centre, cooking meals for people.
I love helping people who are in need.
