Much More Than A Match

My son Jaren was introduced to the Dugan family when he was 13 years old. Ever since that initial introduction Jaren has been regarded by the Dugans as very much a part of their family and has always been included in all their special occasions such as birthdays etc. At the age of 18 Jaren was no longer officially able to be part of the Host Program within IOE but, because of the strength of their relationship, Jaren continued to stay with the Dugans every month until he was about 22 years old. He’s now 25 years old and still sees them once or twice a year. Recently a situation arose where Jaren needed care for a week long period. Without hesitation the Dugans offered to have him at their home for the week.

This match has been a great success both for the Hare and Dugan families. It is a great example of how the Host Program provides not only care and respite but special people within our lives.
