IOE's Green Sharks really are the greatest team and were absolutely amazing today in the Grand Final of the basketball competition played at Knox Basketball Stadium in Boronia.

The winning team consisted of players Pat Aiello, Kathleen McKoy, Alexandra Boyd, James Cripps, Mark Gardiner and Chris Donohue. The Sharks cruised through the semi final with a comprehensive 36 to 12 victory against home town rivals Knoxbrooke and came into the final in red hot form where they met the undefeated Burke and Beyond. The pressure was on, referee Wendy said she had never seen such intensity and was very pleased with the competitve attack on the game from both teams. This is how Grand Finals are meant to be! The Sharks had them rattled in the first half with scores level at the break. The Burke and Beyond Wildcats had not been challenged all season but the Pat led challenge proved too strong. The Wildcats skipped out to an early 4 point lead in the second half but team work prevailed. Kathleen was very accurate in front of goal but without a doubt James was the game breaker. His drives toward the basket and decieving footwork pushing past defenders to score the goals was just spectacular. The crowd was roaring with excitement as the Sharks  reigned them in on the scoreboard and stole the lead. Alex chipped in with some important goals as Donohue and Gardiner iced the clock to secure a thrilling 30 to 26 victory. The team's performance was most admirable with each member contributing and working with each other's strengths. If you see any members of the team around the place I encourage you to congratulate them on a fantastic effort and achievement against the odds. Go SHARKS!
