Interchange Outer East Balance participants have spent the last week holidaying on a cruise ship from Sydney to Tasmania and back again.
A group of 9 young adults and 3 staff flew to Sydney on March 2nd to board the Princess Jewel. The group visited Port Arthur, Hobart, Coles Bay, Burnie, Wineglass / Great Oyster Bay before returning to Sydney on March 10th.
Interchange Outer East Coordinator Lydia Webb said, “Who doesn’t love a holiday after working hard all year? These guys love going away with their mates, the cruise ship food is fantastic and fine dining and drinking are high on the agenda.
“It is a party on water which suits the dancers in the group and those that want to party all night long can in the many nightclub spots. The ship has everything that the guys love, live entertainment, good food, activities, gyms, discos, spa, swimming pool, shops, bars, people to meet, girls and guys to chat up!
“I think they feel a sense of freedom on the ship and take advantage of every opportunity and you really see them enjoying their holiday. Some of the seasoned travellers even know the cruise staff and the staff remember their names. Its lovely to see.” Ms Webb said.

Balance Coordinator Peter McDonald, who was one of the lucky staff to score a position on the cruise, said “One of the guys had the chance to go on stage and be part of a play in front of 1500 people, which was pretty exciting. It’s great that travelling always provides an adventure and experience and the trip certainly gave us all that.”
The first cruise to be organised through Interchange Outer East was in April 2000 with a young adults recreation group. They cruised through Port Vila, Mystery Island and Noumea with 14 people including staff.
