The first ever Interchange Outer East Conference for families, volunteers, staff and connected agencies has been organised for April 20th & 21st 2010.
Executive Officer Fred Brumhead said, ‘With over 25 years of providing services Interchange Outer East has developed considerable experience and knowledge’.
The conference will provide a chance ‘to share that knowledge and experience, encourage further growth and create new opportunities,’ said Mr Brumhead.
Keynote speakers Dr Wendy Lawson and Dr Tom Tutton will present at the conference held at the Foothills Conference Centre in Mooroolbark, Victoria.
Workshops and presentations on various topics such as autism, cultural diversity, musical theatre and community inclusion will take place with topical hypothetical scenarios to be run by the Interchange Outer East Executive Officer and General Manager.
Interchange Outer East will use the conference to launch their new website that has been designed to be more interactive and focus on sharing new information, with a key feature being the new member areas for families, volunteer and staff.
Established in 1982 Interchange Outer East began as a single respite service for 15 families it has grown and now supports over 800 families with a range of programs and services.
IOE Conference Committee organiser said, ‘The agency has grown tremendously over the last decade and we no longer all fit into one small meeting room. The conference is a great opportunity to bring people together and discuss all things Interchange, it’s a chance to see where we have come from to where we are now and ask - what’s next?”
Limited seats are available for the Conference which runs over two days and includes dinner but no accommodation on the first night. If you are interested in attending please call Interchange on (03) 9758 5522.
