For the members of the Supernaturals band their recent Neon Lights tour of Western Victoria in December was the trip of a lifetime.
As a support for local bands, The Quickfix and Silverstakes, The Supernaturals - Pat Aiello, Graham Bergroth, David Manago, Jackson Glenn, Anthony Lombardo and Sean Pendlebury played at Ruby's in Belgrave, then O'Malley's Irish Pub in Mildura, with a final gig at the Commercial Hotel in Horsham.
Under the guiding hand of Graham Bergroth, who is also a member of The Quickfix, the Interchange based band has continued to grow in confidence and musicality. ‘We can do it’ has been the band’s motto, and they have, with two CDs and a number of gigs under their belts so far.
“The Neon Lights Tour was an amazing experience for the guys – a chance to tour as a band with other bands is something they would only have ever dreamed about.” said Interchange’s Tracey Appleby, who assisted the band members, drove the van and oversaw the day to day running on the tour. “With Graham’s conviction, lots of hard work by the band and the overwhelming support of Interchange, families, friends and followers, the dream became a reality.”
“The public’s reaction to the Supernaturals was incredible – even the most initially sceptical was clapping and dancing once the guys got going – their energy and enthusiasm just drew people to them.”
“Whilst they got a huge buzz from the actual playing on stage, the fact that all the girls wanted to dance and chat with them at the gigs came a very close second!”
“An added bonus of the tour was to see how the guys all worked as a unit on the road, sorting out their problems and really supporting each other – they learnt a lot about getting along and considering others.”
The Supernaturals have more gigs planned for 2010, the next being at the Interchange Great Australian Sunny Sizzle on February 26th, where they will play on the main stage at Melbourne’s Federation Square as part of the awareness event’s live music program. In May they will be playing at a fundraiser for disability services in Africa and will also be touring some of the disability schools where they hope to inspire students to ‘get out there and have a go’. They are currently working on lots of new and original songs for a third album which they hope to produce later this year and are seeking financial support for the production costs associated with this project.
The Supernaturals continue to prove that music is a universal language that can be enjoyed and shared by all.
