3rd December 2009
Interchange Outer East will celebrate the contribution made by their volunteers by holding a special end of year party on Friday 11th December.
Interchange Outer East's Balance Link program together with Knox Community Health Service, Knox City Council, TravelSmart, Uncle Louies Cafe, Heavenly Cakes, CFA, Rotary, Ygo Radio and many others contributed to a great event.
More than 200 teenagers regularly volunteer their time to support children with disabilities on camps and day trips, taking part in a range of activities from canoeing and going to the movies through to camps and school holiday programs. In doing so they play an important role in Interchange's ability to provide care, recreation, life skills and social support to children and young adults with disabilities.
"We have an inspiring group of young volunteers who dedicate their time, energy and support and create a fun, loving environment for our Interchange clients. We are always impressed by their passion and cannot thank them enough." Ms Kay said.
"In the lead up to National Volunteers' Day on Saturday 5th December, we want the community to know just how amazing our teen volunteers are how positive and meaningful a contribution they make to our community. We have volunteers as young as 14 who come and regularly help out. They make visits to the zoo, movies etc even more special for our children."
Interchange has booked a night of fun for the volunteers, "We've hired a massive indoor playground and asked volunteers to bring a friend along to join in the fun and games." Ms Kay said.
