The Bayswater Buzz publication won two awards at the Community Newspaper Association of Victoria Conference in Geelong on October 8, 2011.
The paper, published by Interchange Outer East, was recognised as the winner in two of twelve categories. Tim Kroenert’s article ‘I am beautiful no matter what’, won first prize for the Buzz in the Best Feature category. It told an inspiring story about a young women who won an art design competition with a piece called ‘A Girl From Mars’.

Runners up in this category included The Pinnacle French Island and Ferntree Gully News.
The Best Layout category was a dead heat between the Bayswater Buzz and Northerly Aspects. The judges comments were that they were "very easy to read and flowed well".
Conference attendee and Bayswater Buzz formatter Rebecca Gallaher said, “It was incredible to see the Bayswater Buzz win two awards in it’s first year as a CNAV member, it’s a great reward for all the volunteers who work so hard to get the paper together each quarter. Everyone from other papers were really friendly and encouraging and it was a great environment to be in."
“Thank you to all our supporters particularly Bendigo Bank Community Enterprise Foundation and the organisers of the CNAV Conference. It was a wonderful conference and great experience to meet so many people who are passionate about their community. There was certainly a lot to learn and enjoy at the CNAV conference, a few highlights were listening to Andrew Dodd and hearing some great success stories from local papers.”
