Kinky Boots A Hit

More often than not, as a Rec Leader for IOE I have to pinch myself at some of the things I get to experience. Today was one of those days. Off we went nine super excited and passionate live theatre lovers to see the much-acclaimed Kinky Boots musical.

Of course a day out in the city is not complete without a yummy lunch in Chinatown. Shanghai Village, a short stroll from her Majesty’s Theatre catered for all of our needs, serving a range of dumplings and Asian greens, and of course fried rice. Boy did Cary love the rice!

With our stomachs bursting we headed back up the hill and ‘bam’ our smiles brightened as we were greeted by the famous ‘giant red boots’, which stood proudly outside the entrance.

Now, I must add that I have been fortunate enough to see a lot of musical theatre over the years and I can safely say that Kinky Boots was by far up there in the top three musicals! It had everything you could want in a show. The looks on Sarah’s and Gemma’s faces were priceless as they shot up to a standing ovation at the end.

Soon after the show Rebecca, my co-worker, went to retrieve the bus while I hung with the group. As we waited we were fortunate to spot two of the main performers – the main man … or should I say woman (you really have to see the show to understand) was standing outside front of house in full make up no less. We were able to grab a group shot and I think Bronwyn was a little star stuck, as she was smiling the whole way home.

All in all a fantastic day out with a fantastic group of young adults.
