Get The Skeet

Last Saturday those orange pesky flying critters got a working over from our Dads Group. They flew at us, tried to run, even trick us by flying sideways. But we hunters bought home the skeet!

The Dads Group visited Melbourne Gun Club last Saturday to try our hand at skeet shooting. All of us were virgin skeet hunters. I was having difficulties with my personal philosophy about guns but … gees it was fun!

Under the watchful tuition of a World Championship Shooter (pigeon hunt – don’t ask! – strange laws in Spain!) we all had a crack at the skeets. To my surprise we all hit at least one! – in fact we all hit several. There were a couple of crack shots. Phil, who asked me if they had any left handed guns (I thought this was the old ‘left handed hammer’ type request – apparently not) and Fred S whose hunting experience placed him in a league above us all. To the ‘shoot off’ Fred S was the odds on favourite, but choked (he claims he was tanking!) Phil fell at the semi finals and the dark horse Dave Stephens took home the sash, the wine and bragging rights.

Great day and good fun!
