A group of 18 participants, parents and IOE staff have been traveling around Italy for the past three weeks. Our CEO, Fred Brumhead, one of the travelers has sent a ‘daily’ blog detailing their adventures.

The first two weeks were spent as guests of Milan based disability service Athla Onlus – yet another visit in our ongoing exchange program between Melbourne and Milan, now in it’s 6th year. As usual the Aussies have been treated  like royalty by their Italian hosts and have been kept ‘on the go’ with an itinerary of unusual and interesting trips, activities and events.  They’ve been scuba diving (in Italy!), been immersed in the main religion of Italy – soccer, witnessed cheese making, enjoyed Athla’s 30th birthday celebrations,  stayed in the Dolomites and seen more ooh ahh scenery and history than can possibly be documented.

For the last week of their trip they have been doing it alone and enjoying the sights, sounds, cultures, food and shopping of Venice, Florence and surrounds with a final stop in Rome before heading home.

Read Fred’s blogs ‘The First Seven Days’ and ‘The Next Seven Days‘ and ‘The Final Instalment’ for a blow by blow account in Fred’s own inimitable style.
