Age: 16

Interests:

I am really interested in music, dance and performing. I love to sing and play my piano, and dance at my dance school and see and perform in musicals. I enjoy hanging out with friends, movies, hugs and rain when it’s been really hot … and much much more!

How did you find out about Interchange?:

Through the TV ad. I found out more through my friend who is a recreation volunteer and an Interchange Volunteer Coordinator also came out and spoke at my school.

How has volunteering affected your attitude to life?:

It’s really changed the way I think about people with disabilities. It has made me realize that although it may be more difficult for someone to do something it doesn’t mean they can’t do it – their way. Even if people seem really different they’re not all that different from you and me.

What do you like about being an Interchange volunteer?:

I like the feeling of accomplishment I get from volunteering. It really makes me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile. I also like meeting new people and getting to know them. With volunteering you get to know the participants and start seeing the person not the disability.

… and of course I love the fun I have and the things I get to do on camps and activities.
… and the friends I have made at Interchange are amazing. Some of them are the closest friends I have.

What about the future?:

I don’t know what I want for the future. I suppose I just want to be happy, healthy and doing something that I love!

Final words:

Volunteer because its great !
