PUBLICITY UPDATE

Interchange has rushed head long into 2008.  The holiday break barely over, we were hit with our two biggest regional festivals – The Maroondah Festival and the two day Knox Festival, meaning preparation of display material and activity organization.  The hot weather brought out the locals in their thousands and the Interchange stand was kept busy helping people, both big and little, to make their free Interchange badges. There was quite a bit of interest shown in our program and volunteering over the days. Festivals are a great way to gain exposure and hopefully sow the volunteering seed for future germination. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped out on our stand.

sizzle_logoInterchange's major awareness campaign, which this year had a change of name to 'The Great Australian Sunny Sizzle', was held on Friday 6th June 2008 at Melbourne's Federation Square. Over 230 Interchangers, business partners, supporters and sponsors attended this year's breakfast at Zinc Receptions,  which launched the 2008 campaign.  Guest speakers included Melbourne's Deputy Lord Mayor and Black Baloon's author and director, Elissa Down. Also in attendance were Interchange Ambassadors Bryce Alman and Daniel Giansiracusa together with a number of members of The Western Bulldogs and representatives from all our major sponsors.

A full day of music and activities followed in the Square with jumping castles, costumed characters, balloon give-aways, face painting and volleyball and the distribution of lots of Interchange information to the passing public. ...and of course, in keeping with the new theme, there were plenty of sizzling sausages.

Our special thanks to the musicians who donated their time and talents throughout the day:  Band O Gold, Port Phillip Special School, Victoria Police Show Band, The Glenn Family Band, Lighthouse, Funk'd Up, Shelley Evans, The Balance Band, Vatos Locos, Midnight Sun, Reggae Boyz, Rook, Sojourn and Rudely Interrupted.

Thanks also to the support from a growing number of businesses and organisations: City of Melbourne, Corporate Image, Western Bulldogs, Harvey Norman, NAB Capital, Amazing Transformations Costume Hire, Time Out Cafe, Liptons, Tip Top Butchers, Info Signs, VicTrack Access, Zinc Fed Square, St George Foundation, Little Gems Jumps, Everdure, Mitre 10, Melbourne's Child and Worksafe

Thank you to all those volunteers whose input made the day possible.
